Steve and I were moving from Falmouth to Plymouth. In February 1987, we decided to come and look for a house. We had seen and liked SNW houses in Falmouth, so limited our research to SNW in the Plymouth area. This gave us two places to visit. Hooe and Ivybridge. There was nothing left at the Hooe site that we liked, so we travelled on to Ivybridge. On arriving at Ivybridge, it started to snow quite heavily. We visited the sales office and looked at the plans. We needed a house that we could move into by April. In the office at the same time was Vera. She too was looking to buy a house, somewhere where she could easily walk into the town every day. We introduced ourselves very briefly and said that perhaps we might be neighbours in the future. We very hastily chose a corner plot and put a deposit on it, we were concerned we would get trapped by the snow on our way home, and we left. We were very fortunate to be opposite Vera when we all moved in. She had very clear memories of our first chance meeting, and she would often remind me of it. We were fortunate to be able to call Vera a very dear friend for 25 years. She was more like family to me. Vera was unique and irreplaceable. Fiona
